YouTube Partner Programme: Now in the UK

When we announced the expansion of the YouTube Partner Programme late last year, our goal was to offer some of the most popular and prolific original content creators in the YouTube community an easy way to generate revenue from their videos on the site. (For a quick recap of how the programme works, see our previous blog post.)

Like the Internet itself, the YouTube community crosses borders and cultural boundaries. As part of our ongoing plan to reflect international user contribution to our service -- we've already localised our service for 18 countries -- we're excited to announce that once again we are expanding the YouTube Partner Programme, this time by rolling out the initiative internationally. First stop, the United Kingdom. Now anyone living in the UK can apply to become a partner at uk.youtube.com/partners.

The programme has grown significantly since its initial launch, with millions of video views each day earning revenue for our partners. We look forward to bringing the YouTube Partner Programme to more international users in the near future. Where will we expand next? Stay tuned…

(I'm sure I posted this already, but my original comment's gone.)

"You own the copyrights and distribution rights for all audio and video content that you upload - no exceptions."

Does this mean partners can't use Creative Commons content? (Such as Kevin MacLeod's music.)

Will 'youtube' be telling everybody who and why they made certain people 'partners'.
Is it open to all ages and how many view is needed on each video to be considered 'popular'.

I hope this will encourage long suffering YouTubers to stay loyal to the site and keep the community alive in the UK

I don't understand the rules to apply it says popular and getting lots of views, yet there are partners with no subs and no vids. What's all that about? Cheers, Lesley

Finally, its to bad that it can only be for people who are 18+, but I suppose that its to do with the law or something, oh well I only have to wait another year and a bit :).

This is all nice and dandy, but still I do not see why it takes so long to add other countries or even all to the partner program.
