Link To The Best Parts Of Your Videos

Here at YouTube, we still pride ourselves in listening closely to our community and building what you ask for. In the spirit of which, we are pleased to announce the ability to "deep link" to YouTube videos. This means you can now not only link to a YouTube video itself, but you can also link directly to a specific time within each video. This is a feature you have been asking us for and we are happy to deliver.

To create a deep link, append the following to the end of a YouTube video URL: #t=1m15s. This says to link to the time 1:15 - you can replace the numbers before the 'm' and the 's' with anything you like.

As an additional bonus, if you mention a specific time in a video comment, e.g. "haha 1:14 is funny", this will become a hyperlink. Viewers can simply click on the time and the video will automatically jump to the point you are referencing. Pretty cool huh?

Leave a comment here or in our Community Help Forums to let us know what you think. We'll be reading what you all have to say as we think about ways of making YouTube even better.

A good idea I think. What I like about it particularly, is it will save time having to position the circular marker to an exact time, and makes it easier to watch the best parts of a video.

I'm still waiting for the blog posts that starts "Here at YouTube, we've decided to make our video uploading limits fair, instead of wasting 6 hours of someone's time because that's how long it took them to upload A 4 MINUTE VIDEO, JUST BECAUSE IT WAS HIGH QUALITY."

A man can dream.

The British Council civil society fund and the political participation fund in Iraq whom both were funded by the British government ended for unknown but possibly political reasons. However, the British Council has not met its principles and commitment to its recognized values as it ended up with total arrogance in dealing with their Iraqi local staff in respect to administrational issues, ending services payments has not been made , not being thankful then ignoring brave and great sacrifice made by the local staff as that was not ethical. Nevertheless, a group of Iraqi local staff managed to reach the UK but even though the British council excluded their own staff from any of its plans .Purposely, ignored their inclusion in the British council integration program here in the UK which is funded by the British government. It would be simple and easy to get these vulnerable integrated in the British society if the council was up to its moral and professional responsibilities but it seemed that some of those in charge are treating this very sensitive case with colonial mentality. The worst was about promising those vulnerable future jobs but that would be only possible if they cooperate and send vital inputs to proposals the council intends to submit to the British government.Named shamed charity.

What does it mean when a video is removed because of violation and WHY
has Mrs Dino Crocetti's account been suspended??????? Very annoyed about this. In the cool, cool, cool of the evening by Dino was one of my particular favourites and now I cannot see it anymore, so disappointed.

This is a really good idea. I like it. Although the only problem could be that when other people watch the video they may go to that link first but I see it as a good thing.

Hi, I think it's a great feature but quite difficult for a normal user to use it. You could make it more usable, here is my suggestion http://www.adesblog.com/2008/11/02/youtube-deep-link-feature-not-usable/

This is a great addition, because it's hard to move around the timeline bar itself.

Could we use closed caption time formats to start a sequence then stop?
Then start/stop at another sequence? And another, etc?
